The middle layer is carefully extracted and passed through a multi-stage filtration system to remove impurities. Depending on the intended use, it may undergo pH adjustment or mild distillation to stabilize its composition.

Meanwhile, the solid carbon residue from the kiln proceeds to activation - a high-temperature steam or gas treatment that opens the pores and transforms it into commercial-grade activated carbon.
